Where your money goes

"None of our repertoire would be able to take to the stage in the way it does without your support... I value it enormously, and I'm very grateful." Nicholas Hytner

Whilst many people know that the National Theatre is one of the world's leading theatre producers, not many know that it is also a registered charity.

Without the generous support of individuals, companies and trusts, there's no way the National Theatre could continue producing such diverse theatre, support new writing or reach out to young people across the UK via our Education department.

The financial case for your support

The National Theatre's current level of activity costs almost £46 million each year. Our earned income makes up 50% of this, and our Arts Council grant 39%. The remaining 11% (around £5 million in 06/07) comes from private sources. Private funding from generous individuals, businesses, trusts and foundations, ensures we are able to continue to deliver our education programme and the generation of new work, whilst maintaining low ticket prices.
